Background

The ASEAN Real Estate Conference (AREC) 2025 marks a historic occasion as this side programme is initiated for the first time in the region during Malaysia’s chairmanship, alongside ASEAN key meetings. Organised by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government of Malaysia, AREC 2025 aims to provide a strong platform for Member States and partners to discuss global real estate sector which is undergoing a transformative shift – a real estate renaissance – driven by technological innovation, rapid urbanisation, and social equity demands. AREC 2025 also offers the opportunities to create business-to-business collaboration and strengthens deeper regional cooperation through meaningful exchanges.

The primary focus of AREC 2025 is dissecting and paving the way forward for solutioning perpetual issues in the housing sector mutually faced by ASEAN Member States, by integrating sustainable construction and urbanisation, resilient infrastructure, and connected liveable spaces. Building on the outcomes of the ASEAN-China Ministerial Roundtable on Construction and Housing (ACMROCH) held in Kuala Lumpur in 2024, AREC 2025 is centred around the theme “The Real Estate Renaissance: Innovate, Integrate, Impact” which will further explore emerging trends and technologies, and leveraging innovative tools to guide the industry toward sustainable and inclusive development, ensuring that growth benefits all stakeholders while minimising environmental harm.
